How to make your own mini dinosaur

heh, this is one of those DIY posts influenced by JLLT, heh, but it is of a different genre. this afternoon i made my second velociraptor model...it's damn tiny, must have patience to paint and assemble it. first things first, the materials that are required...

the plastic DIY kit of course(this one can be bought at science centre). acrylic paints, don't use poster paints or else the paint will run once it touches water. i recommend Daler Rowney's system 3 acrylic, cuz it's affordable and very versatile. can be bought from art friend shops. brushes, smaller size ones of course(also available from art friend). newspaper, palette(try using disposable ones, since acrylic cannot be washed off with water when dried. in this case, my palette is the magazine cover, which is quite glossy and thick. very good and environmentally friendly substitute.) most importantly, my mp3 player, get some good music to paint to.

now, i cut out all the plastic parts required for the dinosaur...

squeeze some paint...and......

paint!!! for tiny objects like this, must be sure to be patient to avoid ruining it. this is halfway done.

then this is the completed one...the one on the left.

ready to join it's hunting parter(the one nearer to the right, also the one i did yesterday)Posted by Picasa
