4th day in aircast...

another month...

yes...got another month's MC extension today when i went for medical checkup. to be exact, unitl 29th july...i hope i will continue to stay at my current weight...already lost 2kg while slacking...weird hor?

special report on opening night...

yesterday's exhibition opening was rather a chaotic and problematic one...the problems lie mainly on the organisers lack of communication with one another. other than that...it was ok la...hmmm...actually dunno wad is defined as okay as well.

joelle, 赵琬仪 of the zhao bao fukan(this is not a bad word ok) section came and interviewed all the student artists present. questions like 'what is your work about?', 'how long did u take?', 'what is ur inspiration?'. oh yar...we(the student artists) may be appearing in next wednesday's 早报's 爆米花 in the ZBnow section(the chinese version of straits time's LIFE!).

"i had an accident in the army" and "i broke my leg during the obstacle course" were the single 2 most frequently said phrases that i have to repeat yesterday night. of course i dun blame people for asking...since i am limping about with a crutch.

3rd day in aircast...

my first steps...

...are damn painful! expecially in the heel area...ok la...not "damn" painful la...but pain la. cuz maybe i too long never walk already...ha.

frankly speaking, being able to take my first steps today was definitely a joyous thing...ha. but, i will be stuck wearing the same pair of black bata shoes(which is quite comfortable i must say) everytime i go out...ya. plus, i will be walking like those binded feet women(read: slow!). ok...abit nervous today there will be alot of peeps going to the SAM for the opening...ha. dunno how i will be navigating that place...should i bring my crutches or just walk with those slightly painful steps? i personally will choose the latter...but have to see wad my doc says.

ok, today is one hell of a busy day...rushing to places...in my crutches...ha

reflection: after all these weeks of crutching about in my cast...it is definitely a relief to be able to feel and have my feet touch the ground...haha...that feeling is sure nice. so people out there...please take good care of your legs...especially your legs...(arm not so bad...but also quite jialat). without ur legs...u really really cannot enjoy life, even tho u have an extra long medical leave at home. ya...so chewren, dun anyhow jump abt imitating your favourite power ranger...

Something that i miss wearing

ok...this is my no.4 uniform...and it's the one that was on me when i so unfortunately had that fracture...but i do hope that i won't be going to changi airbase where i had been originally posted...heard it's hell there.

anyway, went to chinatown yesterday evening to have my dinner at Malan la mian(马兰拉面) restaurant at majestic,chinatown. the zha jiang mian wasn't to my liking tho. i like zha jiang mian( it's like minced pork with vegetables and noodles). i have so far tried the one at 天津官(tian jin guan) in bras basah complex, the one at the Kopitiam next to SAM, the one at crystal jade's la mian and xiao long bao and of course the one at malan...my verdict? the one, i feel is the best is from tian jin guan...maybe it's because the first bowl of zha jiang mian i have tried was from there...and i had more zha jiang mians there than any other of the places that i have mentioned above. but the crystal jade's one is not bad tho...it's abit wetter than the others cuz they give alot of gravy. the funny thing is that of all the zha jiang mian that i have tasted, none of them taste alike...that's why it's quite hard for me to compare them side by side altho all of them are called zha jiang mian.
i have since become a fan of noodles/la mian ever since i had my fracture...dunno why also... oh yeah...another good la mian restaurant i like is Ajisen's ramen(japanese for la mian). i like the ton-toro ramen especially, since the pork that is served is the lean type...and they are sliced very thinly, easy to chew...plus, the serving of pork given is generous. the fragrant soup is an added bonus as well...too bad i dun have pics here to complement my discriptions...haha.

oh yeah...while at chinatown yesterday, saw bronco company's store man, mr eric in OG...he recognised me(obviously since i am the laundry ic and always pester him to change the damaged bedsheets). then i sort of smiled and waved as he did the same. oh, i went to the guiling gao(龟苓膏) shop that JL LT recommended in her blog...cuz i am also quite a fan of guiling gao, so i din want to miss this chance to have the traditional big bowled guiling gao i had in Hong Kong earlier this year. this time i ate the cold one...easier and faster to eat. i think they should have more flavours like the one in HK's luei yan gai(女人街). i rem they had guiling gao with pei pa goa(枇杷膏) and peppermint flavours on top of several others...hehe. another good brand of guiling gao to recommend is the one available at the crystal jade cakery, costs $4 and comes with a small tub of honey syrup(trust me, u will need it). the guiling gao made by crystal jade is quite solid and the flavour is just right, not too bitter. it is worth ur $4.

after years of craziness over japanese food, i had finally learned to embrace the food that belongs exclusively and is unique to my culture...chinese food dun make me sick!(this is in response to LFO's song which has the phrase "chinese food make me sick")

this song is nice, i must admit that i like it...but the frequency of hearing it in shopping centres and on tv shows made me slightly apprehensive abt letting the streams of lyrics that goes "我爱你, 爱着你, 就像老鼠爱大米..."come making it's way into my ears...

ok, maybe i like the version sung by 郭美美only...

...but whether i will still be donning a cast tml is a question mark...haha. this cast is quite "grafittied" with loads of pics and signatures from my frens

haha...even walt disney came out of his grave to sign for me...hehe. yar lar, like real, that one i sign myself one. then there's shareen, yixin, huishan and kathy's sig. look at the RV logo...haha, i am so pro RV!

41st day in cast...

Not for non-themepark fanatics

hahahz...my plan has finally been fulfilled, disneyland has been built on the shores of sunny singapore. yar lar...joking one la...how can they build here...we dun have a large population within a 50km radius and i doubt many of us will want to spend $70 bux for a 1day theme park ticket...correct hor? yes, correct(cuz i won't do that too often, thus, the themepark cannot be sustained for long). but the photoshop plan below shows a possible scenario(which will never ever happen) if singapore has a huge huge population(i.e. more than 10million), and a disney themepark being built on the empty land of marina east... the disneyland map which u see below...is the tokyo one(cuz it's the best). realised that when disneyland is being plonked onto marina east...there is still enough room to build another themepark(the future themepark expansion outlined in blue). plus...there will be a monorail train linking the themepark with the IR that is going to be built in the Marina bay area...ahhahaz...wouldn't that be great~!

but this is pure fantasy...singapore will have theme parks(ala cheapskate Escape) but can its rides be on par with mega parks like disney and universal? i dun even think that Escape is even FIT to be called a themepark. why? first, there is no theme...without a theme, how can a themepark exist? 2nd, themeparks are supposed to take one out of the real world. hmmm...how many times have u been into Escape and still feel that u are in a neighbourhood in pasir ris? lastly, the rides are plain carnival rides, not much standard at all...thus i am still waiting for that day to come...singapore gahmen, please do something k? why did u(gahmen) reject universal and genting's offer to build an IR with a universal themepark in sentosa?! i was almost hyperventilating when i knew abt the news that universal's coming...but when it was rejected...i almost died k...(paiseh for the exaggeration). so sad right? singapore's only chance of getting a world class themepark is gone just like that...hur hur...

i am just so jealous of the HK pple...they get their own Disneyland... Now singapore will lose out to them in terms of tourist attractiveness liaoz...hurhur...

ps: i tend to get all emotional when i talk abt things i like, so, this entry might sound abit angry, haha...

today is boring...nothing to qrite about...the only thing that kept me on today was the medical check up at mout elizabeth next monday...dunno why i love going there...

SAM

the day started of with me going to the Singapore Art Museum. to touch up my work that is...boring stuff...this the the upper gallery, neat huh...the works are pretty cool

the upper gallery is really spacious...love it...haha...was telling yixin that i wished i had owned the SAM...so that i can throw private party's in the parquet covered halls of SAM. it will make a fine mansion that i can live in...somemore it's only a stone's throw to Bras Basah complex...hehe.

i love to linger around this area with my crutches...the benches are comfortable for sleeping...hehehehe. ok, this is one of my favourite piece of work by the AEP students, sunno who did it tho, but i am sure it's a guy(cuz the picture shows a guy, and it must be his self portrait...). it's quite clear that the theme for his work is cloning...

ok...boring part...touching up my work, note the newspapers placed below the boards...messy messy...

is this the infamous "sexy blogger pose" made famous by xiaxue? no, it isn't, it's me intent on touching up my work...

the "duh" expression when some of the museum pple said my work was hilarious...haha. while touching up my boards, a security gaurd of SAM came up and chatted with me...told me abt her family, her expectations of her children, how she wished that they can study harder and get into university...hmmm...pple whom i have met recently(especially older pple) like to tell me abt their family and stuff...interesting...

i like this piece as well...it's a metal sculpture...but it's seems to be more of an architectural sculpture, without the interiors...the view the metal stuff as outside of buildings...i feel that it looks like an university campus with different subjects taught in the diff metal buildings...

this is my favourite part of the museum, the handicapped elevator...pretty cool...played with it by going up and down alot today...paiseh to the security guards who have to constantly hear the ascending and descending noise made by the elevator...
